2019 NABC Girls Basketball 5th-8th Grade

GRADES 5-8 PROGRAMS

We offer two programs, an In-house Program and a Travel Program. You must be in Grades 5-8 to participate in these programs.

In Town Program

The In-town Program is open to all players of all levels of experience and ability. The in-house teams will be made up of 10-12 players, and will have one practice and one game per week. Games will be played on Saturdays. Playing time in the in-house program is divided equally among all players, regardless of ability, and the goal is to assemble teams of equal strength. The teams will be made up of 7th and 8th graders in one division, and 5th and 6th in the other. There will be playoffs at the conclusion of the season for each division. The Program runs from early December until the end of Feb/early March. This year we will be introducing a draft. Our goal is to evenly match the teams which add to better competition.

The cost for registration for the In-house Program is $120.00.

On-line registration begins on 8/27th and ends on 10/15.  An additional fee of $20 will be charged for registrations after this date. Note: Late registrations will close by November 1st and will be available only if space permits.

Travel Program
Players wishing to participate in the travel program will be chosen through a try-out process. (Please check this site under basketball news for the tryout schedule).   This program is designed for the more advanced player, and requires a greater time commitment than the in-house program. Travel teams will have two practices per week, and will play games on the weekend. Games can be on Saturday or Sunday, or sometimes both. Playing time is not equal, although every player will play in every game, and travel players will not participate in the in-house program. Playing time is at the discretion of the coaches. Please give careful consideration to all of this before deciding to try out for travel. Each grade will have at least one travel team; however it is possible to have two travel teams per grade, which is solely dependent on the number of girls who try out. The girls travel program participates in River Valley League. To check out the league you can go to their website River Valley Girls League

TRAVEL TEAM PLAYERS ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND ALL PRACTICES and GAMES.

Besides the registration fee of $120, an additional fee of $85 is charged AFTER a player has made a travel team and a uniform purchase will be required.  The uniform is $75 and will have your child's last name on the back.   If a player needs a new uniform, shorts ($33) and Jersey ($42) can be ordered separately.

Travel Team tryouts will be posted to this website once scheduled.

2020 NABC Girls Softball 5th-6th Grade

Our mission is to create an environment where players of all ages and abilities will have an opportunity to learn and enjoy the game of softball. In the junior division,we continue to support our philosophy of a positive experience and welcome players of all abilities. We build on the finer elements of all positions. An increased focus is placed on pitching and catching drills, base running, and proper swing techniques. Each player must play at least 2 innings in the infield. Juniors also play other towns, and stealing and bunting become a more active aspect of the game. Games vary but are generally held Thursdays and Saturdays. There may also be games on some Tuesdays and Sundays. This division holds a draft, so we cannot accommodate any player-pairing requests. Teams are announced in early April.

2020 NABC Girls Softball 7th-8th Grade

Our mission is to create an environment where players of all ages and abilities will have an opportunity to learn and enjoy the game of softball.  In the senior division, we play in an inter-town league with Andover, Lawrence, and Haverhill. This is the final division prior to high school level play, but we continue to welcome players of all abilities, and good sportsmanship is paramount. The game is faster, particularly in the area of pitching, and base running becomes an increasingly important aspect as there are no limits to stealing or bunting. Pitching and catching are specific positions which players must consistently practice. It is a 12-14 game schedule including a multi-town tournament and in-town championship at the end of the season. The commitment is 3-4 times per week, primarily 3X per week w/an optional coach's practice where a specific skill might be practiced. This division also holds a draft to ensure even teams, therefore we cannot accommodate player-pairing requests. Teams are announced the first week of April.
